Aaron Pickett
Founding Director
Aaron holds a current New Zealand and NSW (Australia) legal practicing certificate. He has extensive experience working for a wide range of leading international and local corporate clients over a period of more than 17 years across New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
Aaron has particular expertise in private mergers and acquisitions (the sale and purchase of shares and/or assets), joint ventures, private equity investments and start-ups, in addition to day-to-day contracting and legal issues that arise in operating a business. He is well regarded as being able to advise on complex transactions, including shareholder arrangements, on both a legal and commercial basis, with a key strength being his ability to pragmatically work through complexities and arrive at negotiated solutions.
Prior to founding Malugo Darling in late 2019, Aaron worked as a solicitor at leading international law firms in Auckland (MinterEllisonRuddWatts), Sydney (Herbert Smith Freehills) and London (Allen & Overy). He was also a member of the Executive Team at GenesisCare where he played a key role in growing the business from a fragmented group of localised businesses in Australia to one of the world’s largest private cancer providers now with operations across Australia, the UK, Spain and the United States (with a current market capitalisation of ~A$5b+). This combination of private practice and corporate experience means that Aaron knows first-hand what a business needs (and wants) from their legal advisors – practical and commercially relevant advice, not just theory and reasons why you can’t do something!
Aaron also holds Board positions across New Zealand and Australia.
